Seven Days
On the first day that she tried to write
She started with an empty desk
But the light was bad, so she got a lamp.
On the second days, her papers were mixed
with the mail and the bills and the shopping list
So she got some in-out boxes.
On the third day, she decided
that she didn't have enough pens
So where there was one, there were now many in profusion.
On the fourth day, she felt stifled
So she got some house plants
And put them on her desk, for the oxygen.
On the fifth day, she thought she'd write more
if she had some companionship
So she let her cat sit on the desk.
On the sixth day, she thought a computer might help
So she set one up so it was working correctly
But she still couldn't write.
On the seventh day, she decided to give it a rest.
